Kanhaya Kumar speaking at the event in Guwahati on Saturday.

Former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar on Saturday faced protest from the members of a right-wing group as he arrived here to speak at an event.

Kumar was in Guwahati as the special guest at an event organised by a digital media group at city’s Don Bosco School in Panbazaar.

Activists from right-wing organisation-Bajrang Dal– tried to storm the auditorium and disrupt Kanhaiya Kumar’s lecture.

Holding placards in hands, they also shouted slogans like- ‘Kanhaiya Kumar murdabad’, ‘Kanhaiya Kumar Go Back’, ‘Kanhaiya Kumar deshdrohi’–against the former JNU student union leader.

Speaking at the lecture, Kumar attacked the Narendra Modi government, saying BJP government is working at the interest of the corporate groups.

“Modi government has worked at the interest of capitalists and common people have to pay the price for the pro-capitalists policies adopted by Modi government,” said the left leader.
