Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s residence in New Delhi and apprised him of the progress of various flagship programmes in the State.
The Chief Minister briefed Prime Minister Modi of the recent initiatives and efforts of the State Government to put the State on the path of rapid economic development by focusing on those sectors of the economy of State which have high potential for growth and income generation for the people.

Deb especially highlighted the need for development on priority basis of agriculture, horticulture and fisheries sectors which have the combined potential of preventing an outflow of about Rs 5000 crore annually from Tripura, according to official sources.
Sources further revealed that the Prime Minister appreciated the initiatives and efforts of the State Government and assured of his continued support to the State for its overall growth.
In course of the meeting, Deb also requested the Prime Minister to release an amount of Rs 358.70 crore to the State under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) for completion of 81 ongoing projects as recommended by NITI Aayog.
The Chief Minister also discussed the issue of release of special assistance of Rs 1500 crore to enable the State to fulfill the commitment made to the people of the State as per the Vision Document ahead of the Assembly elections last February.
Deb also highlighted the recent efforts of the State Government in combating the drug menace prevalent in the State.
