Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East constituency Ninong Ering, who earlier served as a union minister of state for minority affairs, announced that he would contest the ensuing State Assembly polls from 37-Pasighat West constituency as Congress (I) candidate.

Addressing a huge public gathering at Remi village in East Siang district on Thursday, Ering said he took the decision after a meeting with the Congress high command.

Stating the reason behind his decision to contest the Assembly polls, Ering said people of Pasighat West were inviting him to contest the election from the seat.

He has assured the people to take a bold initiative to fulfil their needs by taking up the pending developmental issues with the authorities concerned.

Ering, who is native of East Siang, observes that the rural people Pasighat West (Ruksin) area in East Siang have been suffering a lot in terms of infrastructure development, link surface connectivity, health services, education, water supply, mobile network connectivity and problems in agriculture sector, which the successive state governments failed to address.

“As a Lok Sabha MP from eastern Arunachal including East Siang district, I tried my level best to ease your sufferings and now, I am curious in serving you as an MLA to fulfil your needs,” Ering said in his address.

Notably, Ering took up issues of the state including Siang river contamination, erosion problem of Mebo area in East Siang with the central government.

He also moved the central government to pass the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2018’ for inclusion of Nocte, Tangsa, Tutsa, Wancho and Yobin tribes of Arunachal Pradesh in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list.

The former MP (Congress) also said the people of East-Arunachal Parliamentary constituency are demanding a new face as their MP so that Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is choosing former Arunachal minister Wanglet Lowangcha as MP candidate from the seat.

MP Ering, who was earlier elected two times as MP by defeating BJP heavyweight and former MP Tapir Gao, has pledged to help his party candidate Lowangcha to emerge winner in eastern parliamentary seat.
