With an aim for delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir, the Centre on Friday constituted the delimitation commission.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice said that Justice (retired) Ranjana Prakash Desai has been appointed as the chairperson of the commission.
Sushil Chandra has been appointed as member (ex officio) and state election commissioner of the concerned states has also been anointed as the member (ex officio) of the commission.
The appointment of Justice Desai shall be for a period of one year.
The notification said that the delimitation commission shall delimit the constituencies of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir in accordance with the provision of the Delimitation Act, 2002.
