Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has urged Assam government to include Manipuri language in the civil services examinations of the state.

“The Assam government must include Manipuri language in the civil services examinations,” Singh said while addressing a large gathering at Lamagram in Sonai area in south Assam’s Cachar district on Wednesday.

He said there are simmering grievances over Manipuri language not being included in the civil services examination in Assam.

“I have spoken to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and also discussed the issue with education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and urged their intervention at the earliest,” Singh said.

On the issue of the inner line permit (ILP) system, Biren Singh said there was “no chaos or untoward incident” in Manipur over ILP.

The manipur chief minister further said there could be a Manipur guest house in Cachar district soon.
