The US Ambassador to India Kenneth I Juster called on Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi in Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and discussed with him on a gamut of issues which have the potential of strengthening Indo-US bilateral relations.

Prof Mukhi apprised the Ambassador of the State’s rich and diverse history and its rapid development in every sector be it human resources development, tourism and industrialization.
He also drew his attention to the Centre’s support that is catalyzing to the development of the State and stimulating the State’s investment climate.
The Governor also apprised the Ambassador of the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Act East Policy’ and how it is unleashing an aura to re-establish trade, cultural and historic linkages between the north-eastern region of India and the ASEAN countries.
The Ambassador thanked the Governor for sparing time for the meeting. He also assured of all the support and cooperation from the US to extend USA’s expertise in developing the oil refineries. He also said that both US and India can work together in revamping regional connectivity and facilitating people to people contact.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Consul General of USA, Kolkata Patricia Hoffman, Consul for Political and Economic Affairs, Kolkata Prasenjit Gupta and Public Affairs Officer James Dragon.
