Union Minister of MSME, Narayan Rane on Friday laid the foundation stone of a flatted factory complex at Patgaon in Rani on the outskirts of Guwahati.
The flatted factory is a multi-story industrial building subdivided into small, separately occupied units which are used for manufacturing, assembly and associated storage.
The flatted factory complex will be a G+3 RCC building located at Industrial Growth Centre (IGC), Patgaon. The floor area of each floor is 2,200 sq m, with a total floor area of 8,800 sq m.
Each floor will accommodate 12 numbers of industrial units. There will be provision for elevators in the factory complex with a capacity of 2,500 kg.
The total project cost of the flatted factory complex is Rs. 21.96 crore. Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (AIIDC) will be the implementing agency.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Narayan Rane said, “This is the first flatted factory complex in Assam which will enable many industrial units to operate at minimum space. The flatted factory is an initiative of the Government of India to strengthen the infrastructure for the growth of MSMEs in Assam.”
He added that MSMEs can generate employment opportunities which can address the unemployment issue in the state.
Rane asked the industrialists to avail the benefits of the schemes of the Ministry of MSME to set up units, enhance employment, productivity, per capita income and contribute to the GDP of the country.
Calling upon for early completion of the project, Minister Rane assured all support and commitment from the Ministry of MSME for a self-reliant India as envisioned by Prime Minister of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
