“The young team was inexperienced and injured, but that didn’t deter their determination and beat one of the best teams in the world,” PM Modi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the 18th convocation ceremony of the Tezpur University virtually from New Delhi, where a total of 1,218 students received their degrees and diplomas.

While speaking at the convocation ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said that the students should work towards building a self-reliant India.

“The universities of future will be entirely virtual and students from any part of the world would be able to study anywhere anytime,” hoped PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while pushing the Centre’s initiative of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ said, “Innumerable people of Assam had contributed towards freedom. Several people had sacrificed their lives, their youth. Now you have to live for New India, Aatmanirbhar India”.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Tezpur Lok Sabha MP Pallab Lochan Das also attended the convocation ceremony.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Guwahati from New Delhi on Friday evening.

PM Modi is slated to take part in a rally at the historic ‘Zerenga Pathar’ in Sivasagar, where he will distribute over 1 lakh land pattas.

Meanwhile, preparations are on in full swing at Zerenga Pathar in Sivasagar where on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold the first major public rally in Assam ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
