One Anumoy Chakma, a native of Bangladesh, was arrested from Natunbazar area of Amarpur in Tripura’s Gomati district on Saturday.
A resident of Bagapara village in Khagrachari district of Bangladesh, police also seized two 9mm pistols and four magazines from his possession.
Police informed that Chakma was married to a local resident of Bhagabantilla village of Korbok in Amarpur.
“He used to visit Tripura by crossing over illegally,” police informed.
Chakma, during interrogation, revealed that he procured the seized arms and ammunition from a person in Agartala and was supposed to deliver it at Khagrachari to one Bakulmoni Chakma.
In a separate incident on Sunday, Assam police arrested two Bangladeshi nationals from Nagaon’s Itachali area.
