This was stated by a top official of the Tripura State Electric Corporation Ltd. (TSECL).
Dr. Murhari S Kele, chairman-cum-managing director of the TSECL speaking to Northeast Now on the sideline of a press conference regarding the Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan of Rs 1,925 crore for the power generation up-gradation, said, “We are exporting 160 MW to Bangladesh.”
“Since the last two-three months, we are exporting 20 MW to Nepal also at the rate of Rs 4.34,” said Dr Kele.
“We are getting funding from the ADB and after up-gradation, it will cost around Rs 900 crore and the power generation will increase from 63 MW to 120 MW and useful for transforming Tripura into a model state,” added Kele.
TSECL has got the approval of total Rs 1,925 crore for capacity augmentation of its existing turbines at Rukhiya gas-based power plant and the Gomati hydro project beside distribution reliability improvement, renovation, and modernization.
Of the total amount, the ADB will grant a loan amount of Rs 1,540 crore which is 80 percent of the total cost.
