Controversies seem to be a never-ending chapter for Assam Congress President Ripun Bora.

In a major embarrassment for Assam Congress Chief Ripun Bora, he was scolded by former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

The incident took place on Saturday during the State Legal Convention organised by the Legal Department of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) at ITA Auditorium in Guwahati.

Former Union Minister P Chidambaram had joined in from New Delhi via video conferencing to deliver the inaugural lecture on “Challenges and threat to democracy and the Constitution of India”.

The scolding was heard by all present in the auditorium.

“Mr Bora, do you have a problem receiving phone calls? I have been repeatedly calling you on your number. If you are too busy, someone else could have received the call. See this is your problem,” P Chidambaram said to Ripun Bora.

However, the alert personnel at the audio mixing immediately muted the audio of P Chidambaram on the speakers, thus preventing further damage.

Following the scolding, this correspondent heard Ripun Bora apologising to P Chidambaram over the phone.

“Sorry Sir,” Ripun Bora said to P Chidambaram.

Earlier in January 1, Ripun Bora has to face severe criticism in the social media after he was recorded on camera unknowingly whispering into the ears of Gaurav Gogoi: “Let’s announce our promises first, doesn’t matter if it really sees the day of light or not.”
