The Assam health, finance and PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today took part in election campaign rallies in North Lakhimpur and Nowboicha for BJP’s Pradan Baruah contesting for the 14 Lakhimpur HPC.
The star campaigner of the BJP first addressed a poll rally in Nowboicha LAC segment of the Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing the gathering at Nowboicha, he asked the voters to vote for BJP once again to ensure success of the Narendra Modi led government at the centre.
Sarma criticized the Congress party for its failure in living up to the expectations of the people and then went on to present a detailed account of various populist programmes that the BJP government has undertaken at the centre as well as at the state.
He mostly stressed on the schemes announced by the government for the protection and empowerment of women, girls and widows.
He also talked to the threat faced by the Adi Elengi Satra in Nowboicha from the encroachers.
Later Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in a poll campaign rally in North Lakhimpur.
Addressing a huge rally there, he asked the voters to back incumbent MP Pradan Baruah in the polls for his remarkable performance in two years’ time.
Sarma also spoke about the speedy work progress of the construction of medical college in North Lakhimpur by the present government, which had remained suspended for two years by the Tarun Gogoi led government about two and half years ago.
Before concluding his speech, Sarma also promised a second bridge over river Ranganadi in North Lakhimpur to those gathered at the rally.
