The 3rd Khelo India Youth Games ended on a positive note on Wednesday with Maharashtra topping the medals tally with 256 medals in total.
The Maharashtra team won 78 gold, 77 silver, and 101 bronze medals in the competition which began on January 10.

They were adjudged the overall winners of the games.
With 20 gold, 22 silver, and 34 bronze medals, Assam won a total of 76 medals in the games and was ranked seventh in the medals tally.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the games generated a ray of hope in the broader landscape of sports in the country.

“Youths who participated in the games proved that through devotion, dedication and diligence one can reach the zenith of success,” Sonowal said.
“From now on, everybody should aim for winning a medal at the Olympics,” Sonowal stressed.
“By taking part at the Khelo India Youth Games, the participants illuminated the identity of Guwahati and put India on a higher pedestal in the world of sports,” Sonowal added.
He also thanked the participants including the support and technical staff, sports organisers, various sports bodies and journalists for making games a grand success.
He also urged the youth to devote to Fit India Movement.
The CM also thanked the people of Assam for rendering all possible help to provide hospitality to the participants of the games.
