A team of doctors are screening all the passengers and 29 crew members.

The staffers of river cruise MV Mahabahu Brahmaputra and Thengal Manor resort in upper Assam’s Jorhat have been kept in isolation to avoid spread of coronavirus.

An American tourist, who was found to be infected with coronavirus, had recently travelled on MV Mahabahu Brahmaputra and stayed at Thengal Manor resort in Jorhat.

The American tourist, Hewitt had tested positive with the COVID-19 virus in Bhutan on Friday.

Jorhat deputy commissioner Roshni A Korati said that all the places where the American tourist visited in Jorhat was being monitored carefully.

The DC further said that the MV Mahabahu with 22 guest and crew had returned to Neematighat in Jorhat and had been placed in isolation.

A team of doctors are screening all the passengers and 29 crew members on Friday, the DC further said. .

“The patient had travelled to Jorhat on February 22 and proceeded to Guwahati via the river cruise MV Mahabahu Brahmaputra on February 23.

“We have tracked his stay in Jorhat. The staffers of Thengal Manor have been placed in isolation and a health team will be monitoring their status daily. They are all asymptomatic,” Korati said in a Facebook post.

The river cruise MV Mahabahu Brahmaputra returned to Neematighat with 22 guests and 29 crew members.

All have been placed in isolation in the vessel itself, presently stationed at Neematighat.

“We are monitoring the development closely, and are equipped to deal with the situation. Hence, there is no need to panic,” DC Korati said.
