Along with the rest of the globe, the impact of global warming and climate change are being felt in Assam as well, a minister told Assam Assembly.

Minister for science and technology and climate change Keshab Mahanta, in a written reply mentioned that a study carried out by researchers from Gauhati University has found that Assam’s annual maximum and minimum temperatures are showing a gradual increasing trend.

“Moreover, it has also been noticed that the temperatures in winter, monsoon and post-monsoon seasons have increased in comparison to the past,” said minister Mahanta.

He said that the amount of rainfall is seen to have increased in summer but has decreased in the rainy season.
