Haflong: Dr Manha Bathari, a renowned Scientist (Entomology) from Assam, has been conferred with the prestigious Agriculture Extension Scientist Award-2024.

She was conferred with the award for her outstanding contributions to promoting agriculture entomology.

Dr Bathari received the award at the 6th National Conference “Advances in Agriculture Sciences” organised by the Dr B Vasantharaj David Foundation in Chennai on November 17.

A native of Gadain Razi, Haflong in Dima Hasao district, Assam, Dr Bathari is currently working as a Scientist at AAU-Zonal Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Diphu.

She has made significant contributions to the field of entomology, with a focus on meliponiculture and bee entrepreneurship.

Bathari completed her early education at St. Agnes Convent School, Haflong, and graduated from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat in 2013.

She earned her Master’s degree in Entomology from the same university in 2015, securing first class with distinction.

Dr Bathari has received several awards and recognition for her work, including a meritorious scholarship from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for her doctoral research. She has also published a patent on a novel bamboo hive design for meliponiculture in 2020.
