Security forces in a joint operation nabbed an armed cadre of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) along with explosives at Tarani Sikarajan under Penegeri police station in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Tuesday.
On the basis of secret information, the anti-insurgency operation was carried out jointly by the Tinsukia Police, 210 Cobra Battalion of the CRPF, 23 Punjab Regiment and 21 Para Security Force.
During the operation, the joint operation team was able to nab the dreaded ULFA(I) cadre, who was trained in Myanmar camp of the outfit.

The ULFA(I) cadre has been identified as Sabda Asom alias Janki Bora from Maj Moromi area under Digboi police station.
The security force personnel recovered 2 electric detonators, 2 IED circuits, 3 batteries of 9.6 volt, one battery-operated remote control, 12 kg of TNT, one torchlight and a bag from the possession of the militant.
Tinsukia police said he is being interrogated to get more details.

The apprehension of Sabda Asom with explosives has indicated that the ULFA(I) cadres have tried to become active in the state.
Informing about the apprehension, the Eastern Command of the Army on its Twitter handle said on Tuesday: “#IndianArmy in a joint #Op with Police, apprehended an ULFA(I) cadre on 08 Oct.”

Regarding the items recovered from the ULFA(I) cadre, it added, “The insurgent was in possession of TNT, electric circuits, detonators & remote control device.”
