Chaos reigned supreme at Mangaldai College on Wednesday as around 4,500 polling personnel stationed at the election control campus in the college was served half-cooked meals!
Due to the care two hoots attitude of the authorities concerned, the polling personnel were reportedly not served lunch on time and when finally lunch was served, it was “totally half-cooked”.
The polling personnel will be engaged in as many as 1,022 polling booths under Mangaldai Election District for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held tomorrow (Thursday).

Few aggrieved polling officials told media persons that after waiting for “hours together” for lunch to be served, they were finally given such “raw meal”.
One of the presiding officers, requesting anonymity, said that he has “extensive experience in conducting polls but never ever have I seen such mismanagement and chaos”.
“It was a bitter experience as we were made to cool our heels and then served half-cooked meal. I will be retiring next year but never ever have I come across such anarchy,” the presiding officer fumed.
Few other polling officials went on to say that even the “inmates of flood relief camps get better quality food than what was served to us”.
It is reported that many of the polling personnel left for their respective destinations on an “empty stomach”.
The polling officials were just served rice, dal and potato fry and nobody was around to supervise the cooks.
Talking to Northeast Now, deputy commissioner (DC) of Darrang district, Ghanshyam Dass, pooh-poohed such allegations and said that it was the “creation of people with vested interests”.
