Assam: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council holds session with no business

The 232nd session of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) was held at KAAC session hall in Diphu of Karbi Anglong district in Assam on Monday.

Obituary reference was taken up for former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee who have passed away this year.

CEM, KAAC Tuliram Ronghang in his obituary mentioned the life and activities of former Prime Minister late Vajpayee and late Chattarjee.

Executive members (EMs) Pradip Rongpi, Ratan Teron, Khansing Rongpi and Rupsing Teron and Member of Autonomous Councils (MACs) D Uphing Maslai, Dorsing Ronghang and Prabhat Ch Taro also spoke on the late Prime Minister.

A condolence message was read out by Chairman, KAAC, Longki Timung. The session ended with no House business.

Later, talking to media persons, CEM Ronghang said due to no questions being put up by any MACs and there was no discussion.

“If there is a question then only we can take up discussion. For transparency and to inform the people about what development KAAC is taking up MACs of the ruling party can raise questions on various schemes, funds for each schemes, the guidelines from NitiAayog and others.

“Hope, the next time the MACs and EMs will raise some questions pertaining to development of the district,” said the CEM.

Of the 26 MACs, BJP occupied 24 seats and two are independents.
