Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi reached his Chandmari residence in Guwahati on Friday night after 18 months.

Gogoi, who has been in jail after his arrest in December 2019, was granted permission to meet his family members by a NIA court on Friday after he appealed to the court that he wanted to meet his minor son, Nasiketa at Chandmari and his ailing mother in Jorhat.

The NIA court has granted two days to Gogoi to meet his family members in Guwahati and Jorhat.

The Sivasagar MLA has been undergoing treatment in GMCH.

Akhil Gogoi was acquitted by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Guwahati on Tuesday in one of the two cases filed against him for his alleged involvement in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam in December 2019.
