Assam Manipur: KCP cadre held for assaulting two in Imphal

Guwahati: A joint operation between Assam Police and Assam Rifles at Rangajan Tollgate in Golaghat led to the recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and the arrest of two former All Adivasi National Liberation Army members.

The suspects were identified as Ajay Shyam (29) and Tiken Kurmi (27), former cadres of the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA).

The duo was travelling in an auto-rickshaw with registration number AS05C5734, transporting the IED from Nagaland.

Police said that they had plans to detonate it in Golaghat during the ULFA Army Day on November 27.

A case has been registered, and further interrogation is ongoing to uncover the extent of the plot and potential accomplices.

However, the link between the cadres and other militant activities is being investigated.
