Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi conveyed his greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In his message to the people, the Governor said, “Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival of breaking fast.”
“The festival is celebrated based on an Islamic belief by following the norm of social practice,” he added.
“Eid is a festival observed by the Muslim community to celebrate the conclusion of the month of fasting,” he also said.
The Governor said the festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr is also an occasion for happiness and merry-making which is marked by the spirit of universal brotherhood.
“Eid-Ul-Fitr teaches us about compassion and love for fellow beings,” he further said.
The Governor also said, “May the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr bind us all with peace and happiness and may we all unitedly rededicate ourselves for the cause of humanity”.
He also hoped that this auspicious occasion would further strengthen the bond of communal harmony and brotherhood and usher in a period of sustained peace, progress and prosperity.
The Governor also appealed all to celebrate the festival by staying in their homes.
He urged upon all not to make any religious gatherings and follow the safety guidelines issued by the government in view of coronavirus pandemic.
