The Assam Government has issued a travel advisory, advising the people from the state, not to travel to Mizoram.

“Given the critical prevailing situation, the people of Assam are advised not to travel to Mizoram as any threat to personal safety of people of Assam cannot be accepted,” an advisory from the Assam Home and Political department read.

The travel advisory further asked those hailing from Assam, but currently are in Mizoram, to adopt caution.

“People of Assam, staying in Mizoram due to work related compulsions, should exercise utmost caution,” the advisory added.

Signed by Assam Home Secretary MS Manivannan, the advisory stated, “…certain Mizo Civil Society, students and youth organisations are constantly issuing provocative statement against the state of Assam and its people.”

The advisory also states that civilians on Mizoram side are “heavily armed”.
