In a midnight excise operation carried out at Kharboja near Naranarayan Setu of Assam’s Goalpara district in on Friday, two persons were arrested and 325 cases of illicit foreign liquor were seized.
The two arrested persons, from whose possession the huge consignment of illicit liquor was seized, have been identified as Nipul Rabha and Rajesh Kr. Rabha.
Both of them were produced before the district court on Saturday and sent to the judicial custody for 14 days.

The excise department accomplished the mission under the supervision of Lakshmi Nandan Baruah, superintendent of excise in Goalpara district.
Two investigating agencies, chief minister’s vigilance cell and excise intelligence bureau acted as a team and took part in the sudden raid.
“Our excise team is carrying out regular operations in the district. However, the illegal business run by the duo seems to be really new and may be only 7 to 10 days old,” said the excise official.
“We are checking the source of the consignment from where it was supplied and who are associated in the business. Everything will be clear once the investigation is finished,” said Baruah.
The Lakhipur and Dudhnoi excise teams of the district in separate operations on November 22 recovered huge quantity of illicit liquors and fermented wash from Hasdoba, Kahibari and Khilamari.
One Pholendra Koch was also arrested from Hasdoba by the Lakhipur team.
