At a time when the price of LPG is on the rise, a total of 32 hoarded LPG cylinders were seized by the food & civil supplies authorities with the help of police at Marangi in Golaghat district.
According to sources, on the basis of specific inputs, two separate operations were carried out at Daigrong and No 2 Panka Grant under the Marangi revenue circle in the Golaghat district.
The operation was conducted by the food & civil supplies department with the help of Numaligarh police outpost in-charge.
“A total of 32 LPG cylinders, which were hoarded in two different places and were seized by a team of food & civil supplies department and Numaligarh police during two separate operations carried out on the basis of specific inputs,” said sources.
Sources said during the first operation, a total of six LPG cylinders, hoarded in a shop of Dharmeswar Saikia of Daigrong, were seized.
During the second operation, the operating team seized a total of 26 LPG cylinders from a pick-up van, kept in the residence of a woman, identified as Masfika Begum at No 2 Panka Grant illegally.
The vehicle has been kept under the custody of Numaligarh police outpost.
The people of the area have lauded the authorities for their initiative as hoarding of LPG cylinders creates artificial crisis of the fuel and results in its black-marketing.
