Five more positive patients have succumbed to Covid19 infection on Sunday in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 1,017.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 status on Sunday night said: “Sad to share the demise of 5 #COVID patients.”

Health minister Sarma informed that two of the deceased are from Cachar district, one each deceased is from Sonitpur and Golaghat districts.

The other victim is a resident of the Nagaon district.

The deceased have been identified as 66-year-old Ghonakanta Dutta of Golaghat; 82-year-old Anadi Kumar Roy and late Usha Dutta (74) of Cachar; late Saradindu Roy Choudhury (74) of Sonitpur and Mahamad Ali (62) of Nagaon.

“Condolences & Prayers,” health minister Sarma said.

Till Saturday, Assam’s Covid19 death toll stood at 1,012 while the state tally increased to 2,15,346 after the detection of 96 new cases.

Assam’s positivity rate in the state was 0.48% on Saturday.

On Saturday, 108 more Covid19 patients were discharged after they recovered from the disease.

The percentage of recovered patients in Assam was 97.89%.
