Assam registered one more Covid19 death on Saturday, taking the state’s death toll to 1,012 while the state tally increased to 2,15,346 after the detection of 96 new cases.

Confirming the news of new cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on Saturday night said the new positive cases were detected out of 19,990 tests.

Assam’s positivity rate in the state stands at 0.48%.

“96 Cases detected out of 19990 tests conducted today with positivity rate of 0.48%,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district registered 31 cases.

Meanwhile, 108 more patients, who were earlier infected by Covid119, were discharged on Saturday after they recovered from the disease.

The percentage of recovered patients in Assam is 97.89%.

Assam currently has 3,526 active Covid19 cases, which is 1.64% of the total cases registered in the state so far.

Informing about the death of a person due to Covid19 in Assam, Sarma in an earlier tweet on Saturday said: “Sad to share the demise of one #COVID patient today”

The deceased has been identified as Jiban Dutta (72) of Kamrup Metro district.
