Ten more positive patients, including 4 from Kamrup Metro district, succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Tuesday, taking the state’s death toll to 492.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Tuesday said: “Very sad & anguished to inform that 10 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”

Health minister Sarma informed that the victims have been reported from Tinsukia, Karbi Anglong, Kamrup Metro, Barpeta, Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh districts.

Four of the deceased are from the Kamrup Metro district.

They have been identified as Binayak Prasad Saraf (74); Bithi Sharma (78); Jogeshwar Gogoi (52) and Kamal Ranjan Dutta (78).

The two positive patients from Dibrugarh district, who have died of COVID19 infection, are Chandra Prabha Das (73) and Eliza Begum (70).

The other deceased have been identified as Gauri Gogoi (58) of Tinsukia; Britendra Daimary (56) of Karbi Anglong; Jyotish Talukdar (50) of Barpeta and Mahabir Prasad Sharma (60) of Lakhimpur, Sarma informed.

“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” the health minister said.

Assam so far has registered a total of 1,44,166 COVID19 positive cases.

A total of 1,15,051 patients have so far recovered from the disease in Assam.

With the demise of 10 more patients, Assam currently has 28,620 active cases.
