Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) held a show of strength at Den Arong in Diphu of Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Sunday in which top leaders of the regional party addressed a massive gathering.
Former Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Jotson Bey rued the desertions of party leaders and elected members of the party to national parties.
Criticizing MP Biren Singh Engti and Assam Hills Areaa Development Minister Sum Ronghang, the former CEM, Bey said, “Pillars and sign boards in border areas were being damaged by people from Meghalaya, but Engti and Ronghang has not commented on the issue. Is there any purpose to keep relying on MP Biren Singh Engti.”
Bey was also critical of Dr Jayanta Rongpi and Elwin Teron.
He also said that president of KANCHASDCOM Ajit Timung led the Autonomous State movement for 30 years, but failed to sign any agreement with the Central government.
“Can we support leaders like Ajit Timung, Biren Singh Engti and Khorsing Engti who are the same?” questioned Bey.
Coming down on 24+ organizations adviser J I Kathar, whose organisation is creating a ripple in Karbi Anglong, Bey said, “JI Kathar though himself a perfect leader, but ultimately he has ruined the JACAS.”
He further said that the funds in KAAC have increased compared to previous years.
“State allocation is more than Rs 1000 crore and add to it the central sponsored funds for special schemes, the KAAC annual funds would be is Rs 3000 crores. In spite of KAAC receiving such huge funds there is no development. The roads are in deplorable state and schools and college buildings are not repaired,” he alleged.
