Assam’s celebrated fashion designer Sanjukta Dutta added another feather to her cap. Top Model United Kingdom winner Ingrinda has recently wore a stunning handcrafted Assam silk gown from her label while walking the red carpet at the 72nd edition of Cannes film festival this year.
While walking the red carpet at one of the prestigious film festivals in the world, Ingrinda looked beautiful in the stunning handcrafted ensemble from Sanjukta’s label.
In March, Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor walked the ramp donning mekhela chador designed by Sanjukta at Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week 2019 in Delhi.
During the fashion event, Sanjukta presented her new designer collection ‘Morom’ which encapsulated a mixture of ethnic and Indo-western sensibilities.
The collection included a wide range of jumpsuits, mekhela chador, skirts and crop tops.
She also earlier designed beautiful attires for popular Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Zareen Khan, Preity Zinta, Hema Malini, Tabu and many other renowned celebrities from different industries.
Last year, she was conferred with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2018 in best fashion designer of the year category.
Born in Assam’s Nagoan district, Sanjukta did her bachelors of Engineering from Assam Engineering College in 1995.
She worked at public works department (PWD) as an assistant engineer before becoming a fashion designer.
She is also known for empowering rural artisans and reviving the Assamese handicraft industry with her stunning designs.
