Assam forests and environment minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Monday congratulated environmentalist Rituraj Phukan for completion of his successful Arctic expedition.

Phukan was the only person to represent India as an official team member in the Climate Force Arctic Expedition 2019.

He started for this remarkable expedition with famous explorers Robert and Barney Swan along with other eminent dignitaries from various parts of the world on June 15 last.

Phukan is the secretary general of an NGO Green Guards Nature Organization which works for environment conservation, wildlife rescue and various other activities.

He has been trained as a climate reality leader under Nobel laureate Al Gore.

Phukan is also the mentor and presenter of The Climate Reality Project which focuses on climate change education.

He also represents The Climate Reality Project India as the District Manager for Northeast India.

Phukan was also a team member of Antaractic expedition led by Robert and Barney Swan in 2013.
