All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday tore the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha.

He tore the Bill while participating in a debate, calling it โ€œarbitrary in natureโ€ and โ€œagainst the Muslim communityโ€.

Home minister Amit Shah on Monday introduced the bill in the Parliament.

Owaisi tore a copy of the Bill after expressing his objection over its nature, saying โ€œsecularism is the basic structure of the Constitution and the Bill was arbitrary in nature and was in violation of fundamental rights.โ€

He accused the government of moving the Bill against the Muslim community and tore a copy of the Bill declaring that โ€œI am tearing this Billโ€.

He said that home minister Amit Shah should be prevented from carrying out this enactment.

โ€œIf you do not do it, you will be compared with David Ben Gurion, the founder of the Jewist state of Israel, and Hitler,โ€ he said.
