Arunachal Pradesh sports and youth affairs minister Mama Natung has assured the creation of a state-of-the-art football ground at Tato in Shi-Yomi district for the promotion of the game.

Natung’s made the announcement during his address at the closing ceremony of the first edition of Pasang Wangchuk Sona Football and Volleyball Tournament-2021 at Tato.

The minister said the youths of the state and that of Shi-Yomi district have enough talent which needs to be polished.

“With proper guidance, encouragement and nourishment, the youths of the district can bring laurels for the state and country. They should participate in more sports,” he said.

Natung also appealed to the youths to adopt a healthy lifestyle by playing any form of sport instead of being engaged in anti-social activities.

The sports department in every district has been entrusted with the task of selecting their best sportspersons who can represent the state.

Meanwhile, Natung, who also holds the water resources and the environment and forest portfolios, assured to establish offices of the WRD and forest department for the district within six months.

He also appealed to the locals to support the ‘Airgun Surrender Abhiyaan’ launched recently to protect wildlife.

Meanwhile, the finals of the football tournament played on the day saw Tagur Aao FC defeat Ruto Aao SC by 5 goals to 2 and clinch the title.

The football and volley tournament was organized by All Shi-Yomi District Students’ Union in the memory of late Pasang Wangchuk Sona, former minister and legislator of 33rd Mechukha Assembly Constituency
