Dibrugarh: The NSCN/GPRN has claimed responsibility for the attack on Ranglom village in Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh.

In a statement, the group said its Naga Army tactical unit targeted the 4th Assam Rifles camp at around 8 AM on Monday. The outfit added that casualties could not be confirmed due to an area lockdown imposed by security forces.

The group termed the attack a โ€œnecessary stepโ€ and accused Indian security forces of harassing civilians, asserting that it would continue operations to โ€œdefend the Naga homeland.โ€

The camp, located near the Myanmar border about 10 kilometers from the district headquarters, was reportedly targeted by what is believed to be a joint operation by cadres of ULFA-Independent and NSCN (K-YA).

Sources said the attack occurred around 8:45 AM. The Assam Rifles responded promptly with a counterattack. No casualties have been reported so far.

Following the incident, security has been reinforced in the border area, and a joint operation involving security forces has been launched to secure the region.
