This election saw fierce competition between two major alliances. The Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, includes Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi, also known as the INDIA Bloc, comprises the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s faction of the NCP. Both sides campaigned vigorously across Maharashtra, seeking a mandate to govern the state.

Exit polls released after voting concluded presented mixed predictions. While one poll forecasted a close contest between the two alliances, three others favored the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi. The Election Commission ensured that exit poll results were disclosed only after the conclusion of voting to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
