World Heritage Site Kaziranga National Park will be closed for visitors with effect from May 16, 2019.
This was announced by the divisional forest officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division of Assam, R.B. Saikia through a general notice issued on Friday.
The national park will remain closed until further orders, the divisional forest officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division said in the notice.

In the notice, forest official Saikia stated: “This is notified for general information to all concerned that Kaziranga National Park will remain closed for the visitors from 16th May, 2019 until further orders.”
The forest officer also cautioned that the Kaziranga National Park authority will not be responsible for any damage or financial loss caused to any person or entity after the closure of the park.
The notice reads: “The Kaziranga National Park Authority shall not be liable for any damages and/ or financial losses to any person or entity due to closure of the Park.”
“The inconvenience caused if any is regretted,” added Saikia.
Earlier, elephant safari for visitors was stopped by the park authority with effect from May 1, 2019.
Due to incessant rains for the last few days, the roads in World Heritage Site Kaziranga National Park have become unfit for travelling.
This has created trouble not only for the visitors but the forest personnel have also faced problems in performing their duties.
In 2018, Kaziranga National Park was closed for the world tourists with effect from May 31.
