“People of Assam also voted in favour of Narendra Modi-led NDA government again in 2019,” said Ajmal.

“But neither the Prime Minister nor the union home minster has time to visit to Assam and share the pain of the flood affected peoples of Assam who are reeling under water for last 15-20 days,” he added.

“During the election campaign, Narendra Modi, Amit Sah and his other cabinet ministers had available time to visit Assam again and again,” said Ajmal.

But at this hour of crisis, when multiple lakhs of population have been forced to take shelter in different relief camps and highlands, the PM and home minister have completed their responsibility by taking stock of the state’s flood situation only over telephone, Ajmal said.

The AIUDF chief also lambasted the state government.

He said the people of Assam have been facing the havoc of flood since the last couple of decades.

But despite it, the state government has never come out with a concrete plan to solve the flood problem caused by the mighty Brahmaputra.

Ajmal demanded that Assam flood be declared as a national disaster.

He assured before the media persons that he would take up the issue in the Parliament in the forthcoming days.

Ajmal visited the South-Salmara Mankachar district of Assam and took stock of the flood affected people of the district and also distributed relief materials among 300 families on behalf of the Ajmal Foundation on Monday.

More than 15 lakhs of people were affected by the recent wave of flood across undivided Dhubri district.

Thousands of inmates have taken shelter in nearly 200 relief camps and highlands across the district.
