The 22-member Dibrugarh Muncipal Board consists of 16 BJP members, five Congress members and a solo independent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stressed for Swacha Bharat Abhiyan, but it is seen that Dibrugarh Muncipal Board has failed to fulfill the dreams of the Prime Minister.

“Corruption and irregularities has been rampant in DMB and a strong lobby has been functioning and involved in malpractice to stop the development. Funds have been coming but they are not properly utilized for the development of the board,” alleged an official source.

During Congress ruled DMB board, there was six trucks running continuously for the collection of garbage but now only two trucks are plying now for collection of garbage.

The rebel ward commissioners alleged that Soma Chakraborty has been functioning without discussing with them and taking the decisions on her own. The ward commissioners have jointly taken a decision not to allow her function as chairperson.

According to sources, hoarding scam has been going on during the Congress ruled DMB and still this strong lobby has been functioning strongly and spinning off public money.
