Dibrugarh Municipal Board(DMB) on Friday inagurated door to door collection of waste from households, commercial establishment and government offices of the town.

In Ward No 5, the door to door collection waste was inagurated by former president of Assam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Nagen Saikia.

Deputy commissioner Laya Madduri was present during the inaguration along with DMB chairperson Soma Chakraborty.

Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri appealed all the citizens to come forward and help Dibrugarh to become a clean city.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh town on an average generates around 62 metric ton of solid waste every day and the mammoth task of collecting the wastes has been allotted to a few NGOs that will manage the service with the help of DMB sanitation workers.

The ambitious move under Solid Waste Management Rules-2016 is meant to ensure the residents handover routine waste to the municipality workers approaching households every morning.
