The Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB) continuing its drive against illegal and unauthorized advertisment hoardings and billboards,  on Thursday pulled down several such hoardings from the RKB road of the town.

DMB ward commissioner Rachana Jain who is leading the drive said that more than 30 small and big hoardings including flex banners were removed from along the busy road during the drive. Already over 100 such hoardings have been removed from the town since the drive began on August 21.

According to Jain, more than 75 per cent of the hoardings in the town were illegal causing huge loss of revenue to the civic body.

“The illegal billboards have not only spoiled the town’s skyline but the municipal board has also sustained huge losses because of it. It was found that over 75 per cent of the hoardings in Dibrugarh town are illegal. We are going to pull down each and every such illegal hoardings. Strict action will be taken against them,” she said.

Recently, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri had instructed the district treasury officer to submit an audit report of the account of advertisement hoardings under the Dibrugarh Municipal Board, after the matter came to light.
