Guwahati: The Delhi Police have refused permission for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to continue its protest at Jantar Mantar, even as the party’s founder, Abhijeet Dipke, vowed to remain at the site until the Union Education Minister steps down.
The protest, which has drawn students and supporters from different parts of the country, centres on allegations of examination irregularities, repeated paper leaks, and demands for greater accountability in the education system.
Police authorities have directed demonstrators to vacate the protest venue, citing security and administrative concerns. However, CJP leaders have indicated that they intend to continue their agitation, insisting that their demands remain unaddressed.
Amid the ongoing standoff, security has been significantly tightened across Delhi. A large deployment of police personnel has been stationed around Jantar Mantar and nearby areas to maintain law and order as supporters of the organisation gathered for a second round of demonstrations on Saturday.
Officials said extensive surveillance measures have been put in place, while multiple layers of barricades have been erected around the protest site and key adjoining roads. Security personnel are also conducting checks at major entry and exit points across the national capital to prevent any untoward incidents.
Senior officers of the Delhi Police have been assigned to supervise arrangements on the ground, with additional forces kept on standby to respond to any escalation in the situation.
The protest movement has gained attention in recent weeks as students raised concerns over the integrity of competitive examinations and called for stronger safeguards against question paper leaks and other alleged irregularities.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as tensions persist between protesters and law enforcement agencies over the continuation of the demonstration.
