Guwahati: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will stage its second large-scale protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Saturday.
As part of its ongoing agitation over alleged examination paper leaks and student suicides, party founder Abhijeet Dipke has urged supporters to carry plates and spoons.
The demonstration is set to begin at 1 pm and is likely to draw students from Delhi as well as nearby regions.
Ahead of the protest, Dipke appealed to participants to bring a “thali” and “chamach,” linking the symbolic gesture to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal during the COVID-19 period to express solidarity by banging utensils.
In a video released by the organisation on social media, he told those joining the protest to come with a plate and spoon, suggesting a symbolic reference to earlier nationwide events.
The act was viewed as a reminder of the 2020 pandemic-time appeal when citizens clapped and banged utensils from balconies in support of frontline workers.
In a separate development, Dipke sent an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, raising concerns over the condition of students and seeking government action.
Within the letter, he demanded Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of students who reportedly died by suicide in cases linked to examination disputes. He also stated that 11 such deaths had occurred recently.
Calling the situation serious, he said the mental health and future of students were under threat and urged immediate intervention from authorities.
He also called for the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, saying responsibility for the situation must be fixed.
According to Dipke, the organisation has been demanding the minister’s resignation for the past month and has carried out protests across the country, insisting on accountability for student deaths and concerns in the education system.
