Aizawl: Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii on Friday expressed the need for further development of neurosurgery services in the state.
Speaking at a function coinciding with the presentation of Rs 62.38 lakh worth of critical care equipment and an Advanced Life Support Ambulance to Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMC&H) by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Lalrinpuii addressed the gathering.
She said the absence of a dedicated neurosurgery unit continues to place a heavy burden on patients and their families, many of whom are forced to seek costly treatment outside the state.
The Minister informed that a proposal for establishing a dedicated neurosurgery unit has already been prepared and said that additional medical equipment and infrastructure support would be required to make the facility operational.
She appealed to IOCL to continue partnering with the state in its efforts to expand specialised healthcare services.
Describing the donation as a significant contribution to Mizoramโs healthcare sector, Lalrinpuii said the equipment would help strengthen emergency response capabilities, improve surgical care, and ultimately save lives.
Under the CSR initiative, IOCL donated a C-Arm machine, a diathermy machine, and an Advanced Life Support Ambulance with a combined value of over Rs 62.38 lakh, according to officials.
