Dima Hasao Shotokan Karate team wins 21 medals, including 11 gold, at national championship held in Kolkata.

Haflong: The Dima Hasao Shotokan Karate Team made the district proud by winning 21 medals and trophies at the 4th APJ Abdul Kalam International School & Senior National Karate Championship held in Howrah, Kolkata.

The championship took place on July 19, 2026, at Shree Agrasain Seva Samity, where karate players from across the country participated in various categories, including Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring) across Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior divisions.

Representing Assamโ€™s hill district of Dima Hasao, the team delivered an impressive performance under the guidance of chief instructor Sensei Chandrosing Chinthong, securing:

  • 11 Gold Medals
  • 2 Silver Medals
  • 8 Bronze Medals

The achievement reflects the rising talent and dedication of karate athletes from Dima Hasao at the national level. The event, organised by the Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation, provided a competitive platform for young martial artists to showcase their skills.

Sensei Chandrosing Chinthongโ€™s continued efforts in training and mentoring local players have played a key role in strengthening the districtโ€™s presence in the sport.
