Dibrugarh: Security forces apprehended a ULFA-I cadre, 10 overground workers (OGWs) and four alleged drug dealers during a series of joint operations across upper Assam districts, officials said.

According to a press statement, the operations were carried out in April by the Indian Armyโ€™s Red Shield Gunners under the Spear Corps, in coordination with Assam Police, in Tinsukia, Charaideo and Sivasagar districts.

โ€œThe operations, based on precise TECHINT and HUMINT inputs, led to the apprehension of one ULFA (I) cadre, ten overground workers and four drug dealers with established links to anti-national elements. Narcotics were also recovered during the operations,โ€ the statement said.

Officials said the coordinated action reflects the effectiveness of joint operations in targeting anti-national activities and disrupting support networks in the region.

They added that such efforts are aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring a secure environment for local communities.

Security forces said sustained joint operations by the Army and Assam Police remain key to curbing recruitment into insurgent groups and strengthening stability in upper Assam.
