Manipur security forces operations
Manipur security forces arrested several suspects and recovered drugs, illegal weapons and stolen vehicles during statewide operations.

Imphal: Manipur security forces conducted coordinated operations across several districts between August 15 and 17, arresting multiple suspects linked to extortion, insurgency and drug trafficking while recovering illegal weapons, narcotics and stolen vehicles.

According to police, the operations resulted in the seizure of 2.6 kg of suspected heroin powder, 1.015 kg of raw opium and codeine-based contraband. Security forces also recovered a Hyundai Eon car, a TVS Jupiter scooter, four mobile phones, a stolen orange Honda Dio and an unregistered two-wheeler.

In Imphal East, security forces arrested 44-year-old Md. Amirkhan from his residence in Kshetrigao over alleged extortion activities linked to the newly formed Peopleโ€™s Defence Army (PDA).

Meanwhile, separate operations in Imphal West led to the arrest of alleged RPF/PLA member Adhikarimayum Sarita Devi, 39, along with cadres Khumanthem Lanchenba Meitei, 19, and Greatson Lourembam, 25.

In Churachandpur, police and Assam Rifles intercepted 26-year-old Nemneihoi Touthang and recovered 2.6 kg of suspected heroin concealed in 197 soap cases.

Kangpokpi narcotics police also registered a case against Manikumar Sunari in connection with the alleged smuggling of codeine-based cough syrup.

In another anti-narcotics operation in Imphal East, security forces arrested five people identified as Ramesh Bhattarai, Tej Bahadur Bhandari, Raju Bhattarai, Abisek Karki and Mahesh Rizal.

In Kakching, a routine patrol intercepted two persons riding a stolen Honda Dio. They were subsequently handed over to Thoubal police for further investigation.

Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons during combing operations in Tengnoupal and Jiribam districts. In Senam village of Tengnoupal, personnel recovered an INSAS Ex-Caliber rifle, two INSAS rifles, three LMG magazines and live ammunition.

In a separate operation in the Khozoul/Choudhrikhal area of Jiribam, security forces recovered an AK-56 rifle, a magazine, live rounds and empty pistol shells.

The coordinated operations formed part of a wider security sweep across the state targeting insurgent activities, extortion networks, drug trafficking and the movement of illegal arms and vehicles.
