ULFA(I) cadre surrenders in Arunachal
During the course of the operation, our sources were activated and tasked with establishing contact with the insurgent and persuading him to surrender," said an official of the Assam Rifles.

Dibrugarh: A hardcore ULFA(I) cadre surrendered to security forces in the Khonsa area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district on Friday.

The surrendered cadre has been identified as Jintu Gogoi, 23, alias Arun Asom, a self-styled private of ULFA(I).

“Based on credible intelligence inputs from our sources regarding the presence of a hardcore insurgent of the ULFA(I) faction in the general area of Noglo, a focused operation was launched by the Khonsa Battalion, Assam Rifles.

During the course of the operation, our sources were activated and tasked with establishing contact with the insurgent and persuading him to surrender,” said an official of the Assam Rifles.

The official added, “Sustained pressure and persistent negotiations motivated the insurgent to shun the path of violence and return to the mainstream. The efforts yielded a positive response, and the insurgent agreed to surrender.”

The insurgent was subsequently taken into custody at COB Noglo.

“During the surrender, the following items were recovered: one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine and 10 rounds of 7.65 mm live ammunition. This successful surrender underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-based operations and the humane, persuasive approach adopted by the Khonsa Battalion, Assam Rifles,” the official said.

The force remains committed to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region and continues to motivate misguided youth to return to the mainstream.
