Guwahati: Authorities in Assamโs Tinsukia district successfully neutralized two World War II-era bombs on March 31, Tuesday, officials reported.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahender Rawat said the explosives, consisting of a general-purpose bomb and an incendiary device, were found in the Burma Camp area of Lekhapani under Ledo by a civilian digging a pit.
The Indian Armyโs Red Shield Division quickly dispatched a bomb disposal team to the scene.
Residents in the nearby area were evacuated, and a secure safety perimeter was set up to prevent any accidents.
The explosives were then moved to a controlled location away from residential areas and rendered safe through a planned detonation.
Authorities stated the mission concluded safely, with no harm to people or nearby structures.
The swift response prevented any risk to lives or local infrastructure in the district.
