Guwahati: The BJPโ€™s Meghalaya unit has urged the Border Security Force (BSF) to intensify efforts and fully seal the Indo-Bangladesh border in the state. The party also called on the state and central governments to take serious note of the evolving situation in neighbouring Bangladesh.

BJP spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang expressed concern over the political situation in Bangladesh, describing it as unfavourable to India. He alleged that elements in the neighbouring country sought to destabilise India, with the Northeast particularly at risk.

โ€œGiven the geopolitical situation, the state and central governments must act decisively. We cannot allow a return to the old days when Bangladesh served as a safe haven for militant groups to rest, regroup, and establish camps,โ€ Kharkrang said.

He emphasised that sealing the border was now more critical than ever and called on the BSF to ensure that the frontier remains secure. Kharkrangโ€™s remarks follow recent social media claims and videos by vloggers showing individuals crossing into Bangladesh without apparent hindrance.

โ€œIf these incidents are true, they pose a serious threat to national security. The BSF, along with the state police, must take immediate action,โ€ he added.
