Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday handed over appointment orders and posting places to 21 candidates selected in the Assistant Professor Examination 2026 conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
The appointments will fill vacant teaching posts in government colleges across the state under the Department of Education. With the academic session already under way, the Chief Minister asked the new appointees to join their assigned colleges immediately.
Congratulating them, Khandu said the recruitment reflected his governmentโs commitment to fair, transparent and merit-based selection.
He said the effort to provide every government job aspirant with a level playing field had been possible with the support of the APPSC and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).
โWe hurriedly called for giving away the appointment letters along with posting places to all successful Assistant Professors because we cannot delay the process as we are already into the middle of the academic session,โ he said.
The Chief Minister said human resources, rather than infrastructure, were the real measure of development. He said teachers shape the stateโs manpower and its future citizens, and asked the new Assistant Professors to discharge their responsibilities with the same dedication they showed while preparing for the examination.
โYou on your own chose this profession, prepared for it and appeared for the examination. You worked hard to achieve success. Now itโs your turn to do justice to what you have chosen,โ Khandu said.
The APPSC advertised the posts on January 22, 2026. It conducted viva voce for the 21 posts on August 18 and 19 and declared the results on the same day.
Of the 263 applications received across five subjects, 66 candidates were called for interviews and 21 were selected, roughly one in every 12 or 13 applicants.
Mathematics and Chemistry accounted for six appointees each, followed by Physics with five. Anthropology and Sociology had two appointees each.
Sociology attracted the highest number of applications, with 86 candidates for two posts, while Anthropology received 32. Chemistry drew 50 applications, Physics 48 and Mathematics 47.
